Next to the nice stuff like visiting friends and family we had to apply for a visa extension.
Our appointment at the embassy turned out to be a complete disaster. I guess I will always remember this stressful afternoon. I shall skip all the details since, despite missing some documents and even losing Maarten’s passport, we have got the visa in the end.
While waiting at the embassy this particular afternoon, Maarten wanted to go home. How do you think it feels knowing you need a visa for that...

I hoped visiting Europe would help me to answer many questions. America or Europe?
I had such a wonderful time out there that I returned even more confused.
The time I spent in my hometown was especially unforgettable. After so many years it still feels like coming home.
